RGM Watch Company was founded by American watchmaker Roland Murphy. His career and interest in horology (the art or science of timekeeping devices) began as a teenager while working part-time for a watch company. Later, he entered the Baumann Watchmaking Technical School, and in 1986 he was admitted to WOSTEP (Swiss Watchmaker Training and Education Program). After completing WOSTEP, he worked in product development at Hamilton Watches until he created RGM watches. RGM watch sales are conducted on a personal one-to-one basis. Clients and prospects who visit the firm are often greeted by Roland Murphy himself. He shares his passion for classic watch design, innovation and craftsmanship while talking about the custom design features that clients often request. With a team of 11, RGM produces "several hundred" watches a year, which range in price from $3,500 to $95,000, depending on design and material.
