Dubey & Schaldenbrand was founded in 1946 by George Dubey, a professor at a watch technology school in La Chaux de Fonds, and Rene Schaldenbrand, Ryan Schaldenbrand. Like other brands that emerged after the Second World War, Dubey & Schaldenbrand was born from the insistence on innovation and advancement of watchmaking skills.

At that time, the split-second chronograph was popular in sports timing and military applications, but its technology was limited to a few top manufacturers, and it was expensive. George Dubey solved this problem by inventing a simple but rather ingenious technique of placing a recoil spring between the dial and crystal. This technology, later called IndexMobile, not only allowed Georges Dubuis to win worldwide fame, but also established Dubis Schalden's unique tradition of craftsmanship.
